Photography Walk: Tiong Bahru II

Date Thursday, October 1
Time 9.00am to 12.00pm (approximately)

Due to popular demand and the fact that we have to run such small groups, we are happily offering a second Tiong Bahru Walk on Thursday Oct. 1.

Come join us for a morning photography walk in the buzzy neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru.  This neighbourhood is a photographer's dream--architecture, street photography, gardens and murals by Yip Yew Chong.  We will be meeting near the Tiong Bahru Market entrance at approximately 9am.  Any level of photo enthusiast is welcome to join -- from those with phones to those with DLSR cabers.  Come wander, explore, and photography with us.

Tiong Bahru is the oldest housing estate in Singapore.  The SIngapore Housing Trust began building mass public housing here in the 1920s.  We will see both pre-war and post-war public housing on our walk.  And you will find gems in the details— gates, windows, stairs, etc.  If the  bomb shelter is open we can have a peep in. Street names in the estate are named after Chinese pioneers in the 19th and 20th centuries.  The wet market was first built in 1945 but moved to its current site in 1955.  So much to learn and explore!

We are allowed to have 2 groups of 5.  you will be notified the day before who your leader is so we avoid any mingling of the groups.

Contact photography@awasingapore.org if you have any questions.
